We began carrying Co-Motion bcicyles in 2004. Jeff Rhodes was planning to ride self-supported from Indianapolis to New Hampshire with his brother Dick. After a thorough search for a top of the line touring bicycle, he settled on the Co-Motion Americano. Based on Jeff's recomendation & after talking to a few other Co-Motion owners, we signed up as a dealer at Interbike in 2003.

Co-Motion is a small shop in Eugene, oregon which builds top-quality, custom bicycles. They have been in business since 1988, and are best known for their tandems, although they also produce excellent single bikes. Obviously, custom built bikes are not cheap. Most of their bicycles start around $3,000 or more - Call (1-800-793-7801) or e-mail Roy for current pricing.

Touring Bicycles

Americano This is a pure touring bike. It features 145 mm axles to avoid wheel failures, and the chain stays are long enough to provide plenty of heel clearance, even if you have large panniers like the Arkel Gt-54s shown above on Jeff & Dick's bikes. There are plenty of braze-ons, and lots of room for wide touring tires & fenders. Here's John Schubert's Review from Adventure Cyclist Magazine
Nor'Wester The Nor'Wester is designed to be somehwere between a pure touring bike and a racing bike. It is an excellent choice for organized rides like the Hilly Hundred or TRIRI, or for credit card touring. Able to handle moderate loads, it also a good choice for weekend self-supported tours.

Racing Bicycles

Ristretto This is an aluminum frame touring bike. Made from hand-selected Easton 7005 Ultralite Taperwall tubing, the frame weighs only 2.4 pounds. Here's a 2004 Review from Pez Cycling News.
Espresso For those of you who prefer the ride of a steel bike over an aluminum one, take a look at the Espresso. The frame is constucted of Reynolds 853 double-butted tubing & weighs 3.6 pounds. Here's Bill Strickland's 2003 Review from Bicycling Magazine
TT Here is a pure time trial bike. It minimizes aero drag while keeping the weight down to only 16.85 pounds (with Campy 10 components). The frame is composed of 7005 aluminum aero tubes, and weighs only 2.5 pounds. The rear brake cable routes through the frame to lessen wind resistance.

Tandems

Co-Motion makes quite a variety of tandems, with prices starting around $3,000. Here are the hightlights of each:

Primera Chromoly frame with fittings for water bottles, racks & fenders. A good choice for touring. Here's a Review from Double Magazine
Mocha An off-road capable tandem with 26" wheels. It can accomodate tires up to 2.2" wide. Here's a Review by Danny Sullivan for Recumbent & Tandem Rider Magazine
Speedster Features an air-hardened steel frame. Here's a 1998 Review by David Morgan for Tandem Magazine.
Roadster Features an Easton 7005 aluminum frame.
Cappuccino Features a Softride beam for the stoker. Here's a 1997 Review by David Morgan for Tandem Magazine.
Periscope 700 This is the only Co-Motion tandem that we generally stock. One of its best features is adjustability. If you ride with a variety of tandem partners, of if you have a growing child, this might be the right tandem for you. The telescoping rear seat post can accomodate a stoker of almost any height. Also available is the Periscope 26 with 26" wheels.

Triplets

For some families, a tandem just isn't big enough. Co-Motion also makes triplets for those of you with 3 riders.

Periscope Trident Features the adjustability of the Periscope series in a triplet.

Co-Pilot Option

Most Co-Motion bikes are available with the Co-Pilot option. S & S couplings are used in the frame and cable splitters are used on the cables so that the bike can be broken down into smaller pieces to make transporting it easier.

S&S Couplings allow the frame to be dis-assembled with a simple hook spanner (included)	Cable Splitters on the derailleur cables & rear brake cable can be connected & dis-connected quickly without tools
